  NR3 - Qualified bat

Again a night flight, the very clement weather report makes that we can take advantage of it to chain them!

For this flight, we shall join at night Argentan (LFAJ), to make some visual pattern and validate this night flight qualification !

This time, we shall leave with 2 planes, 1 instructor and 1 student on each aircraft.

The sun comes down, it's time to get ready for departure !


A small refuelig to be quiet all night long.




Everybody is ready at the same time, we are going to be able to follow itself.


We are not going to take off in closed formation but almost!


07PM, take off runway 06, almost at the borderline hour.


Average visibility but that stays not bad.

08PM, at 5 minutes of the vertical of Argentan. The person who had to switch on the light to us the lighting does not answer...
The second Cessna announces also on arrival but without much success either...
2 min before vertical, still anybody ...
At 30 secondes, a person is listened and throws launches on the frequency: I arrive I'm going to switch on to you everything!
Phew!!! We are going to be able to become integrated into the circuit.

My instructor announces me: we are going to make 2/3 laps and if it's well, you will leave alone.

A grass runway of 1000 by 60m, It is not as well long as in Niort but it is widely feasible.


At the end of session in double, return parking lot to leave the instructor on the ground!
Flight information, marshaller, our host is multi-purpose and very nice! That pleases!



The mist is more and more present but the visibility remains reasonable. My instructor will also stay on the frequency to order me to return if this one degrades of excess.

Aligned, ready for departure, with the same impression as during my first one released in laps during the PPL.


And it left! 1 tour then 2 then 3 then 4 ... with a very low pass on the road which goes along the threshold 04. I think that certain car drivers certainly had to have a fright...


5th and last pattern ... I have 25 min of flight to reach the minimum of 5 hours, that would be a pityto have to redo a night flight to validate the qualif...

Me : India X-Ray on final 04 and if that disturbs anybody, for 2 or 3 other patterns.
FI : No concerns for 2 more.
Well ! I am going to make of laaaaaarge downwind with a reduced speed so that the 5 hours come at the final full stop !


Last pattern ... 12 min remaining ... that will not pass.
FI : How long of flight it you rest to have your 5 hours?
Me : 12 min !
FI : Well ok continue your patterns and you will stop when that will be good.

Problem solved !

The last one touch before the full stop, 5 min remaining... It is too pleasant to turn, I continue and this next tour will be fast ! 120kt in downwind and in base, last bend I reduce everything and takes out flaps on long final.


Come back to the park.


Engine shutdown, with 5 night flight hours !

11PM, end of flights.
Really very nice, our host takes out the bottle to celebrate the event!


It's time to go to sleep.

This time we can sleep a little much longer that last week, the departure is sheduled only in the sunrise.

0630AM ... The fog settled down, 50m of visibility.


We are not going to leave ....

0830 AM ... Not better !


0930AM, the sun tries to drill the layer of fog.


1020AM, It's time to go !!


Within 10 min, we are ready for departure.


The beautiful temperature inversion which sticks the pollution in the low layers.



On final with 4500m of visibility.

What concludes this great night flight which transformed me into bat!!!

    Tu as bien de la chance. Nous avons eu droit à de la brume toute la semaine. réultats 3 vols de nuit bachés :-(

    Au fait, tu sais exactement quand tu commences la pratique l'année prochaine ?

      La brume la nuit ce n'est pas un problème, la visibilité reste malgré ça très Bonne et meilleure que le jour.
      Pour la pratique, si je tiens mes délais, je partirai vers janvier.
